Group B of the Champions League reaches an exciting conclusion. Real Madrid are in third place, a point behind their opponents, leaders Borussia Monchengladbach. They have only won two games out of five so far, both against Inter. Their most recent fixture saw them again lose to Shakhtar Donetsk, leaving the possibility they might not qualify for the knock-out stages. Madrid could even finish bottom and not get transferred to the Europa League. Failure to qualify may well mark the end of the reign of Zinedine Zinedane. However, a win over Monchengladbach would see them get into the knock-out stages, possibly as group winners. Real Madrid won at the weekend, but needed an own goal to get the victory over Sevilla in La Liga. Home form in the Champions League is a struggle too with just two of their last eight games won. The club has never failed to get out of their Champions League group, Zinedane has to ensure that record is maintained or he may be looking for a new job very soon.
Borussia Monchengladbach know that anything but a loss in this match will see them go into the knock-out stages. They lead Shakhtar and Real Madrid with Inter three points behind. The problem they have is that if they lose this match and Inter beat Shakhtar, Inter will finish above them because of the head-to-head results between them. The German side have scored 16 goals in this group, mostly against Shakhtar who they beat 6-0 away and then 4-0 at home. Their most recent game though saw them lose at home to Inter and although still top, they still have a lot of work to do to qualify. The Germans have four points from their two away games in this group and the bet here is on both teams to get on the scoresheet.
