Zenit St Petersburg v Borussia Dortmund Betting Tips [8 December 2020]

Zenit St. Petersburg are already destined to finish fourth in Group ‘F’ of the UEFA Champions League, but will be looking to finish on a high and spoil the plans of Borussia Dortmund. Zenit are fourth in the group standings with one point so far and will finish fourth irrespective of the result in this match. Dortmund are top of the standings with ten points and one ahead of their nearest challengers Lazio.

There is nothing but pride for Zenit in this fixture, but Dortmund have a lot riding on it. They are already qualified for the knockouts and can top the group if they beat Zenit outright. If they draw this match then Dortmund need Lazio to drop points against Club Brugge. Should Lazio lose their match against Brugge, Dortmund will top this group irrespective of their own result in this match.

Zenit won 5-1 over the weekend that ended their four-match competitive winless streak. The only hope for Zenit, though, is that they have won two of their last five matches at home in the competition. 

Dortmund could only draw 1-1 with Eintracht Frankfurt in their weekend Bundesliga game leaving them winless in three competitive games. The usually fluently scoring Dortmund side has been struggling for goals with just three in those three matches. The story in the Champions League has been slightly different, though, after starting the campaign with a 3-1 loss to Lazio. Dortmund have picked up three wins on the trot – each with a clean sheet – before dropping points in a 1-1 draw against Lazio. Crucially, they have a score to settle in the Champions League away matches having lost four of their last five such games.
