AC Milan are coming from a 3-1 win over Genoa in the Coppa Italia and as attention shifts to the Serie A, the target will be to sink their visitors, Spezia on Monday. Milan are second in the league standings, with 48 points, just one below league leaders Inter while Spezia are 16th with 19 points. The win over Genoa was a fourth straight for Milan and they’ve scored three or more goals in those four matches. This is the form they will want in this game and in the Serie A they are also doing well, with just one loss, and five wins in their last seven games. They however have just one clean sheet in five league matches, while they have only failed to score in one of their last five league games. In the last four meetings with Spezia, Milan have managed three wins.
Spezia haven’t had a very stable run this season but going into this game, they are coming from a 1-0 win over Genoa. That was just their second win in the last 10 matches and also the second clean sheet in that run. This is another tough away outing for Spezia, who have had a number of big away games lately. In their last five away games in Serie A, Spezia have faced Atalanta, Inter Milan, Roma and Napoli; they only won the one against Napoli, losing the rest. Going to this match, Spezia have failed to score in four of their last 10 matches and conceded two or more goals in six of the last 10. They have seven losses in 10 away league games and also conceded two or more goals in seven of those 10 away matches.
Milan are in great form and having played a game more than league leaders Inter, this is a game they will want to win. They are just a point below the league leaders and the prospect of going top should motivate them here. Milan have been free scoring and face a side that has struggled a bit in recent matches, especially away from home. In their scoring form, we expect Milan to walk away with three points, and we are backing them to lead in both halves.
