A year after suffering a serious injury at Roland Garros, Alexander Zverev is again going well in the French Open. The 22nd seed takes on unseeded Tomas Martin Etcheverry for a place in the last four. A win for Zverev will see him get to the last four at Roland Garros for the third successive year. Waiting in the last four for the winner of this match is either Holger Rune or last year's finalist Casper Ruud. Zverev started this tournament ranked 27th but is down seven places in the live rankings. That's because of the points he's defending from last year's tournament. Getting to the last four will see him rise to 21st. He loves playing at Roland Garros (injuries aside) and has only dropped one set on his way to the last eight. That was to the 12th seeded Francis Tiafoe in round three. He was in great form in the last round and only lost eight games to 28th seeded Grigor Dimitrov.
Before this year Tomas Martin Etcheverry had never won a match in a Grand Slam main draw. He finally broke his duck at the Australian Open but it's on clay that his best results have come on. The Argentinian began the year ranked 79th but is up to a career high 31st in the live list. Three clay court finals have been reached by Etcheverry this year, namely in Santiago, Houston and Bordeaux. The latter was a Challenger Tour event and he's still waiting for his first title win of the year. He'd never won a main draw match at Roland Garros but has put that stat well and truly behind him. Three seeds have been beaten by him on his way to this quarter final and is yet to drop a set. This is the toughest match he's faced and we go for Zverev to get the win.
