Former champion Andy Murray faces 19th seed Grigor Dimitrov in round two of the US Open. Murray has a great record against his opponent having won eight of their 11 matches. However, they haven't faced each other since 2016, though Murray did beat Dimitrov in this tournament that year. Murray is 39th in the live rankings and had a comfortable straight sets win over Corentin Moutet in the first round. This is likely to be a lot tougher for the Scot who won the US Open 11 years ago. Hell be glad that the first two rounds have seen him avoid a top 16 player after some tough draws in the past few years. His fitness looks good at present and he'll put up a strong fight in this match.
It was anything but smooth sailing for Grigor Dimitrov in the first round. He lost the first two sets to Alex Molcan and needed a fifth set tie-break (the third of the match) to make it through. Dimitrov has lost in the second round of the US Open in each of the last three years. He did get to the last four in 2019 though and would love to do so again. Only three times though has he got past the second round in New York. Recently he reached the last four in the Washington hard court tournament. This could go either way and a five-set marathon would not be a shock. Our suggested wager is to place a bet on there being a tie-break in this match.
