Barcelona and Real Madrid meet at the unusual venue of the King Fahd International Stadium in Saudi Arabia. This is the first time that El Clasico is being played in the Arab region. Barcelona will be the underdogs in this match as Real Madrid have had a great run of form this season. Barcelona have come into form in their recent matches and now are unbeaten in their last six matches with three draws and three victories. They have won the Spanish Super Cup a record 13 times and between them and Madrid they have 24 titles. Barcelona have only lost twice in their last 14 matches and those losses came in successive matches to Bayern Munich and Betis. They have been dropping points as they have had six draws during this period. Barcelona have lost the last four El Clasico matches and have not lost five in a row this century.
Real Madrid are certainly the form team in Spain this season and bounced back well from their shock 1-0 loss to Getafe by winning their next two game with an aggregate score of 8-2. They have only lost once in their last 18 matches and are on course for another La Liga crown. Their focus of course will turn to the Spanish Super Cup and they couldn’t have asked for a tougher challenge than facing old rivals Barcelona. Thirteen wins in their last fifteen matches bear testimony to their imperious form this season. They will want to win this edition of the Super Cup and take their tally of titles to 12, one behind Barcelona’s record 13 titles.
Barcelona will look to extending their record number of titles and more importantly will want tо prevent five El Clasico losses in a row. Real Madrid have been in great form and much of this is due to their excellent defence. Barcelona have struggled in front of goal but we expect both teams to play with freedom, therefore we are predicting over 2.5 goals in this match.
