Birmingham host struggling Peterborough at the St Andrew’s stadium for this rescheduled matchday 25 Championship fixture. The home side is coming off a 2-1 victory against Barnsley, their first win since November and a result which saw them snap a six game winless slide. Birmingham currently sit 18th in the table on 31 points and have built up a comfortable 12 point lead over the drop zone, which will more than likely see the Blues avoid a relegation scrap. The visitors, on the other hand, are right in the thick of it. 22nd place with 19 points, they trail safety by three points although with two games in hand over 21st place Reading. Peterborough have continued their awful away form with a 3-0 loss at West Brom on the weekend and the Posh have now lost 12 of their 13 matches away from home.
To say that Peterborough struggle away from home would be a bit of an understatement. They hold the league’s worst away record at 1-0-12 as well as the league’s worst goal differential at -30. Darren Ferguson’s side have only managed to find the net six times on their travels while conceding an eye-watering 36 goals. Since their solitary away win, Peterborough have lost six straight away from home while being outscored 17-1 during the stretch. Birmingham are presented with a golden opportunity to record back to back victories and can potentially move up to as high as 14th place with a win. Brum have managed decent form at the St. Andrew’s stadium - winning five, drawing three and losing five, and should consider it a big let-down if they aren’t able to defeat their opponents here.
We’re going to back the hosts here to win and pile on more misery for Peterborough fans. Birmingham’s recent win should act as a great confidence booster and Lee Bowyer’s men have a really good chance to rack up consecutive victories, something that has been a rarity for the Blues this season.
