Two sides in really poor form will face off when Premier League action returns after the international break; Brighton will play host to Norwich City. Brighton are 13th going into this game, with 33 points, and Norwich bottom with 17 and both are coming from lengthy losing runs. The hosts have suffered six straight losses going into this game - all in the league, and their scoring run has been one of the poorest. In the last six matches, Brighton have managed just one goal and a porous defence hasn’t helped matters. They have conceded two or more goals in the last six matches and kept just one clean sheet in 10 matches. Playing at home hasn’t been easier, with their last 10 league matches at the AMEX producing just one win, and they have four straight losses there.
Norwich haven’t done much to aid their quest for survival, with six straight losses in the league. This will not be an easy game for them, given they are playing away from home, and they are under pressure being eight points away from safety while they have played two more games compared to 17th placed Everton. Further, they haven’t really done well in previous matches against Brighton, going winless in the last three and failing to score in those games. Norwich will however have an edge over Brighton ahead of this game in the fact that they have some consistency in their scoring. In the last four matches, Norwich have managed to score and in only two of their last 10 have they failed to score. Their away run isn’t impressive though; Norwich have suffered four straight away defeats as they prepare for this game.
There’s no outright favourite between these two sides; both are coming from poor runs and are fighting different battles. Brighton hope to rise into the top half by ending their winless run, while Norwich are battling relegation. At home, Brighton haven’t done so well, and the same is the case for Norwich away from home. A draw looks possible here.
