The win over Cape Verde was the lift Burkina Faso needed at the 2021 AFCON after their opening loss to Cameroon. They are set for their final Group A match and going into it, they have three points and Ethiopia have none, at the bottom of the standings. Burkina Faso have three clean sheets in their last four matches and have lost only once in their last 10 matches. That loss was against Cameroon in their opening game in this competition. In their last 10 matches, Burkina Faso have managed six clean sheets and they have scored twice or more in five of the 10 games. They have a much better run at AFCON finals, keeping three clean sheets in the last five though four of five have produced under 2.5 goals.
Ethiopia have lost their opening two matches and their eight-year wait to return to the topmost competition in the continent seems to be over. They have managed just one win in seven games, one clean sheet in 10 and they’ve scored two or more goals in just two of the last 10 matches. Both teams have scored in four of Ethiopia’s last five matches and they head into this game with no win in the last five AFCON matches. Four of these five matches are straight losses and among them is a 4-0 thrashing by Burkina Faso. In three of their last four AFCON matches, Ethiopia have conceded two or more goals and failed to score in three of four. Three of Ethiopia’s last five AFCON matches have produced under 2.5 goals.
Burkina Faso are favorites here but could find it tough facing a side without much to lose. Ethiopia are as good as out of the competition after two straight losses and such a team can be tough to play against. In these two sides’ recent matches, under 2.5 goals has been a regular feature and we will go for the same here.
