The weekend has not been a good one for Burnley. They slipped to bottom of the Premier League and now host 17th placed Watford. Burnley had yet another game postponed and have as many as four games in hand on some sides. If they won all four of those, they'd only be a point behind 11th placed Crystal Palace. Considering they've only won one league match this season, winning four more looks a tough task for them at present, especially after selling Chris Wood. Seeing Watford, Newcastle and Norwich all pick up points on Saturday was the last thing they wanted to see happen. They need to take it one match at a time and a win in this match will see them go above Watford and escape the relegation zone. Doing that and still have games in hand on the bottom three would create a much healthier situation. Losing this game though will suddenly see them six points from safety. Even more worrying is the fact that after this game, Burnley's next three opponents are Arsenal (away) and home games against Manchester United and Liverpool. Burnley have only won one of their last 17 home league games. Three of their last four league games have been lost and they are also without top scorer Maxwel Cornet, who's on AFCON duty. Four of their last six home league games have seen under 2.5 goals
Watford are a point above Norwich in 18th with two games in hand. They needed a late goal at Newcastle to earn an away point on Saturday. Without that goal, they'd be in the relegation zone, so how valuable could that equalizer be in a few months time? That point ended a run of six straight Premier League defeats and must surely help their fragile confidence. Three of those losses had been on the road and they also lost at Leicester in the FA Cup a fortnight ago. They have only won two away league games this season, scoring 12 goals in nine games. Eight of those came in the two matches won at Norwich and Everton. Two of their last three games against Burnley have had under 2.5 goals scored in them. Watford haven't scored in any of those three matches. Go for under 2.5 goals in this match with a side bet on a draw.
