Chelsea will be back in action with a Premier League game at home to Tottenham Hotspur after the international break. The Blues target a win to strengthen their fourth place grip while Spurs will be looking to rise a place up to 13th. Read on for our prediction of this match.
Chelsea’s last act in March was another London derby, when they fell 1-0 at Arsenal. While this was their fifth loss in 10 matches, it brought to a halt a run of four straight wins.
There will be a good feeling about returning home. Enzo Maresca’s side is unbeaten in seven home matches and won each of the last five.
Tottenham will also be looking to bounce back after defeat in another London derby. They fell 2-0 at Fulham. That was not just their third defeat in five matches, they also failed to score in those losses.
Like Chelsea, Spurs have also lost five times in their last 10 matches. They won four in that run but only one of them was in the last five matches.
There will be a sense of desperation at Spurs, as they seek to break a winless run in their last three league matches. It is even tougher on the road, with Spurs losing six of 10 away league games.
Chelsea and Tottenham are both struggling for form coming into this match. The Blues are, however, in a much solid position and have also done better in their recent matches. In the league, they have a top four place to play for and with five straight wins at home, they’ll be confident here.
Spurs have been poor all season and their away form will be another of their concerns. They’ve lost three straight matches against Chelsea too. Our prediction for Chelsea v Tottenham Hotspur is for Chelsea to win.
