Newcastle will also remember their journey in the League Cup was cut short by Chelsea and will have revenge on their agenda. At 40 points, the Magpies can at best target the Conference League. That is way lower for the side that finished fourth last season. Some form of continental football will not hurt though, for the side whose season has been hurt by injuries. Newcastle United are unbeaten in three league matches against Chelsea, winning two, and will be confident of extending that. Here they come, having avoided defeat in their last two matches, one of them in the FA Cup. Their loss to Arsenal is their only defeat in six league matches but they’ve won just half of those six. High scores have characterized their recent league matches, all the last nine producing over 2.5 goals.

The last time these two sides met in the league, it ended in a goal fest. The two sides are coming from high scoring matches as well. By these trends, we expect another high scoring encounter.
