England’s new boss Lee Carsley will be keen on leading the team to three wins in three matches in charge this Thursday. The Three Lions will host Greece in League B, Group 2 of the Nations League at the Wembley Stadium. Here’s our prediction for the match. Courtesy of a marginally inferior goal difference, England start this game in second spot. Building from their run to the Euro 2024 final, England will be seeking a third win in as many matches. They started this season of the Nations League strongly following their relegation from League A. A couple of 2-0 wins against the Republic of Ireland and most recently Finland, place them on level points with Greece. In nine meetings, England are unbeaten against Greece.
After two wins in two, Greece will be eyeing a clear advantage in this pool. They will want to ride the momentum from their 2-0 away win in Ireland on Match Day 2. Should they bag three points here, it will mark their first ever win over England. The last time these two nations met, England blanked Greece 4-0 in a 2006 friendly match. This isn’t a fixture that Greece have found easy scoring in. They have just three goals in their nine meetings and failed to score in seven of the matches. Clean sheets in four of their last five away matches will be a source of motivation coming into this game. For a side that has never kept a clean sheet against England, achieving that here will be great.
England will be clear favorites coming into this game at home. They don’t lose many matches at home and will be looking to improve on their scoring form. The Three Lions haven't scored more than twice in the last 10 matches though they have two straight clean sheets.
Greece have also been doing well defensively in recent matches. We expect the visitors to line up defensively for this match, which could mean it ends in low scores. Our prediction for England v Greece is for under 2.5 goals.
