England will have another home game, a friendly match this Tuesday against visiting Ivory Coast after their Saturday win over Switzerland. Head coach Gareth Southgate is shaping his team for the coming World Cup finals and handed a number of debuts in the 2-1 win over Switzerland. The Three Lions rose from a goal down in the match and will be hoping for a more dominant display against the African giants. It has been rather smooth for England since their loss on post match penalties to Italy at the Euro 2020 final. The English take to this game an eight game unbeaten run since that loss while they have three straight wins ahead of this one. Harry Kane scored again in the win over Switzerland and he is enjoying great form for the Three Lions. He has eight goals in England’s last three matches.
This is the first ever meeting between England and Ivory Coast but most of these players are well known to each other, some even playing for the same clubs. Ivory Coast are coming from a 2-1 loss to France, a game they took the lead but let it slip courtesy of Olivier Giroud and Aurélien Tchouameni’s goals. They did give a good account of themselves in that match and for coach Patrice Beaumelle, a good sign as he rebuilds, having failed to guide the team to the final round of qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup. Ivory Coast are winless in their last two matches but had earlier registered three straight wins. They’ve only failed to score once in their last five matches and Arsenal forward Nicolas Pepe has been instrumental for them, scoring in three of the last five matches. Three of the Ivorians’ last five matches have produced over 2.5 goals.
England have done well in their recent matches and Harry Kane has been a key focal point. The Three Lions skipper is enjoying a good run and will be hoping to lead the team to another win here. This will be another tough game but in Kane’s form, we are backing him to score.
