Everton v Newcastle Betting Tips [17 March 2022]

Everton moved another step closer to the relegation region with a loss in their last game, and they’ll be hoping to rectify things when hosting Newcastle United in the next game. Everton have had a torrid season and they are serious relegation candidates after their latest loss, a 1-0 defeat at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers. They still have three games in hand on the teams around them, but even with that, their form remains a major concern. All season, they’ve managed just six wins in their 26 league matches. It is particularly bad that their only win in the last five matches was in the FA Cup. All the remaining have ended in defeat. They have one win in their last 11 league matches and nine of the 11 ended in defeats. Four points secured from a possible 33 in the last 11 matches is truly relegation form. To make it worse, Everton have no win in the last four meetings with Newcastle; they’ve actually lost the last three. 

Newcastle United are coming from a hard fought game against Chelsea, which ended in defeat after the Magpies conceded in stoppage time. The loss ended an eight game unbeaten run and the game against Everton presents another chance for Newcastle to start off again. They go into this game with a good run against Everton and they are aware of Everton’s struggles. In their last meeting, in February, Newcastle came from a goal down to win 3-1, the fourth time in five matches that they scored two or more goals against Everton. Callum Wilson will be a big miss in this game, as he nurses injury; he has four goals in the last three matches against Everton.  Another player who could influence this game is Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, though his availability isn’t confirmed after missing the Wolves defeat. He has five goals in the last five matches against Newcastle. Away from home, Newcastle United have suffered just one loss in their last five matches.

Nothing seems to be going right for Everton, and meeting a resurgent Newcastle United will not offer them a lot of comfort. Newcastle are coming from a good showing against Chelsea though they lost. On the other hand, for Everton, even in attack they are doing badly and their run against Newcastle hasn’t been very encouraging over the years. Back Newcastle United to win here.
