A streak of two straight losses has seen Huddersfield relinquish their third place position in the table to Luton Town and the Terriers will be looking to bounce back here with a win as the promotion playoff race heats up. Huddersfield now sit fourth with 63 points, trailing Luton Town on goal differential while maintaining a slim two point lead over fifth and sixth place Sheffield and Blackburn. With many of Huddersfield’s playoff rivals having a game in hand advantage, the three points will be vital for Carlos Corberan’s side to ensure their participation in the playoffs. Hull City on the other hand find themselves on the opposite end of the table. The Tigers sit in 20th place and despite the low league position, are not in much realistic danger of relegation with a 13 point cushion over the drop zone as we approach the final stretch of the season. Manager Shota Arveladze wll be aiming to build a solid foundation for next season after having taken over the reins in January of this year.
Since being appointed manager, Arveladze has a record of 3-6-6 with 10 goals scored and 13 conceded. The good news for Hull City fans is the improvement in their defensive solidity with the Tigers recording five clean sheets in their 12 matches under the new manager - a rate of 41.6%. Their previous mark was eight clean sheets in 27 matches, or a rate of 29.6%. Hull City hold the second highest mark in the Championship at failing to find the back of the net with 19 of the Tigers 39 mathes ending with them being blanked. While they’ve improved on the defensive end, their attack has continued to struggle even with the change in the regime. Huddersfield, despite being on a four match winless streak themselves, will look to take advantage of the hosts' horrid run at the MKM Stadium who have now lost five matches on the trot. The bookmakers have set the odds for the two teams very closely, indicating that they believe a close match is on the cards here. With the hosts' proclivity for a defensive approach and the visitors' recent winless slide, a low scoring affair seems a likely outcome here.
