Ivory Coast take on Egypt in the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations. This is their big tournament of the year, having been knocked out of the 2022 World Cup. They won Group E by a point from Equatorial Guinea with two wins and a draw. Wins came against the eventual second placed team 1-0 and then defending champions Algeria 3-1. Arsenal are missing Pepe at present and he's scored twice so far. He was on target against Sierra Leone, a game they should have won but conceded a 93rd minute equalizer. His good form continued in the win that saw Algeria knocked out of the tournament. Ivory Coast have only lost one of their last 15 games, that was the 1-0 loss in Cameroon that ended their World Cup qualification hopes.
Egypt could only finish second in Group D, three points behind winners Nigeria. It was the Nigerians who handed them a 1-0 loss in their first group match. They bounced back with a 1-0 win over Guinea-Bissau (with Mo Salah scoring the only goal) and a final 1-0 victory over Sudan. That loss to Nigeria was their third defeat in a row and they are struggling for goals. Just two have been scored in their last five internationals. Ivory Coast seem to have the momentum here. Back them to get the win and set up a quarter final against either Morocco or Malawi.
