Novak Djokovic continues his bid to win an eighth Wimbledon men's singles title. He takes on eighth seeded Jannik Sinner in a repeat of last year's eventul quarter final. On that occasion, Djokovic went two sets down to the Italian but droppe just seven games in the next three sets. Second seeded Djokovic went on to win his fourth successive Wimbledon title. He hasn't lost a match in this grass court Grand Slam since being beaten by Tomas Berdych in 2017 when retiring in the second set. The Serb has already won the first two Grand Slams of 2023 and the last three he has appeared in. His previous eight Grand Slams have produced six titles, a final and a last eight appearance. He hasn't had it all his own way at Wimbledon this year with a set dropped in each of his last two matches. That included losing the first set in his quarter final against Andrey Rublev. He's also had to play five tie-breaks and two 7-5 sets. The second seed has beaten Sinner in both of their previous two meetings. Aside from last year's match at Wimbledon, Djokovic beat the Italian on clay in Monte Carlo two years ago.
There were many who didn't believe Jannik Sinner would become a top player on grass. He struggled early on with a loss in the first qualifying round and then losing in round one two years ago. Since then he's reached the last eight in 2022 and gone a round further this time around. He's not had the toughest of draws in these championships. Sinner has made it to the last four without having to face a seeded player. The last eight saw him end the run of Roman Safiullin but for the second successive match he dropped a set. Djokovic is the overwhelming favourite to win this match but we go for over 34.5 games to be played.
