Leicester City will play host to Brighton in their next game in the Premier League, a chance to bounce back after the loss to Tottenham Hotspur. The Foxes go to this game placed 10th on 25 points, four less than Brighton who are ninth in the league standings. Leicester dropped their guard in the last game, conceding twice in stoppage time to lose 3-2 to Tottenham. It has been a tough season so far for Brendan Rodgers and his men and after two straight wins they thought the stability was getting back but a poor finish to that last game just gave them the reality. An area that has caused Leicester City trouble so far is their defence; they’ve conceded 13 goals in the last five matches, managing just one clean sheet. While they’ve managed two or more goals in four of their last five matches, a porous defence has really let the team down, conceding three or more in three of the five games. In four of their last five matches, Leicester have scored first, but they’ve managed just two wins.
Brighton are coming off an impressive fight to draw 1-1 with title contenders Chelsea and will be confident in handling Leicester City. They don’t have a clean sheet in their last nine matches and in 10, they’ve failed to score in only two. In only three of those 10 matches have they managed two or more goals and only two of their last 10 matches have produced over 2.5 goals. Brighton haven’t lost a game in their last six outings though they have three wins in that run. They’ve only lost once in 10 matches, 1-0 at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers and they have two clean sheets in 10 matches. In four of their last five matches, Brighton have come from behind to avoid defeat. The 11 draws they’ve managed in the league is the most in the competition.
These two sides are enduring very different circumstances in the season; Leicester’s main worry is their defending while Brighton have drawn a lot. The nature of Leicester’s worry is that they score regularly and a lot of goals but they can’t shield themselves from conceding. They’ve scored first in most of their recent games, while Brighton have conceded first in most. Back Leicester to score first here too.
