Manchester City will be out to rekindle their Premier League winning streak when they host Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. A win for fifth-placed Spurs will take them level with second-placed City who are on 29 points. Pep Guardiola’s men dropped from first place after a 1-1 draw with Liverpool last time out in the league. On Tuesday City had to dig deep to beat Leipzig 3-2 in the Champions League, after trailing by two at halftime. It was another great show of their attacking prowess, a feature that has seen the score in eight straight games. The only times City failed to score in their 20 matches this season were in defeats to Arsenal and Newcastle United. They’ve however struggled to keep clean sheets in recent matches, and come here with just two in 10. The champions are currently on a 17-game home unbeaten run in the league and will be looking to extend that here.
Spurs are in a slump, having suffered three successive losses which has seen them also plummet from the top. On their last outing, Spurs lost 2-1 to Wolverhampton Wanderers and will face a huge task of bouncing back against City. Their poor away record against the Cityzens will not aid their cause. Spurs have six losses and only two wins in 10 matches away to City. However, in recent times, Spurs have beaten City three times in four meetings, including a 1-0 victory last time out. Like City, Spurs also carry into this game a good run in attack. They have scored in every single of their matches this season. However, they have two clean sheets only in 10 matches. As he plots a return to winning ways, Ange Postecoglou will be without a number of key players here. James Maddison and Micky Van de Ven who have been immense for them are out injured.
With two very attacking sides coming face to face we expect to see goals in this fixture. While City have done well in attack, they haven't been perfectly solid in defence. The same can be said of Spurs. Our prediction for Manchester City v Tottenham Hotspur is for both teams to score.
