Manchester United will for the first time in over a month have a home match, when they play host to Omonia Nicosia in the UEFA Europa League. Going into this Group E clash, United have six points and are in second place while Omonia Nicosia have no points, at the bottom of the group. Manchester United beat Omonia 3-2 in the first meeting last week, after coming from a goal down and they go into this game hoping to win, and go top of the group should Real Sociedad lose. In their last outing, United had to rise from a goal down again to beat Everton 2-1. That was the fourth match in five that they conceded first, though in the last two they managed to turn the matches around and win. United have failed to score in one of their last five matches and managed just one clean sheet in five.
Omonia Nicosia did well in the opening half of their first meeting with Manchester United but it all went wrong in the second half as they conceded three, to fall 3-2 at home. In the game that followed, they lost 1-0 away to AEL, which was the first time in five that they failed to score and the third time in five matches that they suffered a loss. They have two wins and two clean sheets but things aren’t going well for them in this group after conceding at least two in each of their three Europa League matches. Omonia are also doing badly away from home; in five away matches, they have four losses, and failed to score twice, with only one win and clean sheet registered in those five games.
Manchester United’s biggest strength is not in defence, but they’ve been doing well in attack. They face Omonia, who aren’t the strongest when playing away from home, but they’ve only failed to score once in the last five matches. Omonia have a tough task here, after losing all their opening three matches. Back Manchester United to win with both teams scoring.
