Inevitable Ligue 1 champions PSG travel to the Mediterranean coast to take on AS Monaco for one of matchday 29’s must-see fixtures. The visitors hold a massive 15 point advantage over bitter rivals Marseille in second place and it would require a meltdown of historic proportions for the Parisians to let this Ligue 1 title slip away. After devastatingly being knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid, Les Rouge-et-Bleu were able to respond strongly by defeating Bordeaux 3-0 at home. Things may not go so smoothly here however, as Mauricio Pochettino’s side have struggled to get an away result in recent matches. PSG have now lost three consecutive matches away from home with their last away win coming more than a month ago against defending champions Lille.
They come up against a Monaco team that are coming off a disappointment of their own after being eliminated from the Europa League knockout stages at the hands of Portuguese side Braga. A draw in their last match means that the Monegasques now have only one victory in their last eight matches and face a stiff challenge here. Still, Monaco should be encouraged by their overall solid home form this season where they have managed to win seven games, draw four and lose three while accumulating a goal differential of +13. Things start to look even better for the hosts when considering PSG’s recent away form, where they have dropped three straight. Their away record of 7-4-3, while nothing to scoff at, doesn’ hold a candle to their excellent home record where they’ve managed to win 13 of 14 league matches.
