A classic footballing rivalry is rekindled on Tuesday when the Netherlands host Germany for the first matchup between the two sides in nearly three years. Although technically just a friendly, there is always a lot at stake when these two teams meet and plenty of bragging rights up for grabs amongst the supporters. Both teams come into the match in rip roaring form and each manager will be looking to keep the positive momentum going with the UEFA Nations League and World Cup right around the corner. The hosts booked their ticket to Qatar after finishing 7-2-1 and topping their World Cup qualifying group, scoring an impressive 33 goals and conceding only eight. The Germans were able to do them one better in their own group, finishing first with a record of 9-0-1 with 36 goals scored and four conceded. Each team is coming off a win in their last match as well, with the Netherlands recording an impressive 4-2 friendly victory over Denmark while Germany cruised to a 2-0 victory over Israel.
With both teams in such good form, it should make for a very entertaining match as neither team will want to break their unbeaten run despite nothing officially on the line. Since last summers European Championships, each team has gone unbeaten with the Germans going a perfect eight for eight while the Dutch recorded six wins in the same amount of matches. What could ultimately prove the difference between these two very evenly matched sides is the Netherlands' noticeable boost in form when playing in Amsterdam. The Oranje have won all five of their matches on home soil since summer of 2021, outscoring their opponents by an incredible total of 22 goals to one - netting an average of more than four goals a match. The visiting Germany have also played a slightly easier schedule, with Die Mannschaft’s toughest fixture during their eight-game streak being Iceland away.
