Two sides in great form face off as Nottingham Forest plays host to Huddersfield Town in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Monday. Nottingham are fresh from a 1-1 draw with Sheffield United, which handed them their sixth straight unbeaten outing and they’ve lost just once in the last 11 matches. Their scoring run has also been great and they go into this match having failed to score in just one of the last 11 matches. They’ve scored twice in three of the last five matches and have three clean sheets in the five matches. Nottingham have so far eliminated two Premier League sides - Leicester City and Arsenal, and they will also bank on home form going into this game. They’ve gone undefeated in six matches at home, winning five and in seven of the last 10 home matches they’ve scored two or more goals. Four of their last five home matches have produced over 2.5 goals.
Huddersfield on their part, are enjoying a burst of form that has seen them come up as serious promotion favourites. Their 3-0 win over Peterborough United was the fourth straight victory and they have now gone unbeaten in their last 18 matches. In those 18 games they’ve managed 11 wins. They also go into this game with a great scoring run, netting two or more in the last four games, while keeping three clean sheets in five. Three of their last five matches have produced over 2.5 goals and away from home they have scored 10 times in the last five matches. Huddersfield’s away run is good; they have no loss in nine matches on the road and in that period they have managed six wins. Huddersfield have already eliminated a Premier League team - Burnley - in this competition and they will be backing on their good run to see them through this. In the last four matches, they have beaten Nottingham three times, and lost once.
Fortune here may favour Huddersfield as this clash in the last three meetings has been won by the side playing away from home. That aside, Huddersfield have the better run going into this game and they also have three wins in the last four meetings with Nottingham. Both sides have good scoring runs and we expect the same to continue here but a Huddersfield win looks more likely.
