Third seeded Novak Djokovic bids to win his second Grand Slam title of the year. He faces the fourth seeded Casper Ruud and if he wins, he'll return to the of the world rankings. It'll also be his 23rd Grand Slam title an also take him to the top of the ATP Race. The achievements will continue to pile up as a win will see him having won all four Grand Slams at least three times. However, he has to beat Ruud first and that's something he's used to doing. Four previous meetings with Ruud have all been won and he's yet to drop a set to him. Two of those four wins have come on this clay surface. Djokovic hasn't won a title since the Australian Open and had some surprise defeats. His form has improved as this tournament has progressed. Djokovic beat Carlos Alcaraz in his semi-final and will be confident of winning this Roland Garros final.
Casper Ruud will hope to do better than he did in last year's Roland Garros final. Only six games were won against Rafa Nadal as he slumped to a straight sets loss. He won the Estoril clay court title this year but is still yet to win an ATP Tour event above the ATP 250 series level. So far in this tournament he's lost sets in three of his matches. The semi-final saw him beat Alexander Zverev in straight sets with only seven games lost. Can he beat Djokovic on clay though? The odds are against him and we go for Djokovic to win the title.
