Reading v Blackburn Betting Tips [19 March 2022]

Matchday 39 of the Championship sees promotion hopefuls Blackburn travel to the Madejski Stadium to take on a Reading side desperate for points to extend their slim lead over the relegation zone.  The visitors currently sit fourth in the league table with 61 points, trailing Huddersfield by two and second place Bournemouth by five points. The battle for the promotion playoff spots is extremely tight, with only a few points separating the third to ninth positions. Blackburn began to quell their recent terrible run of form by picking up a dramatic come from behind 3-1 win against Derby in their last fixture. The result means that the Rovers have only won two of their last 10 matches but have a great opportunity to make it consecutive wins here. Their opponents, Reading, are 21st in the table with 30 points and will find themselves in a scrap with Barnsley and Derby for the rest of the season to see who can avoid the drop. The hosts hold a two point advantage over 22nd place Barnsley meaning every point from here on out will be vital. 

Blackburn were previously on an almost incomprehensible scoring drought where they only found the back of the net once in nine matches. Putting three past Derby in the second half will have done Tony Mowbray’s side a world of good and they’ll look to carry over that confidence against a similarly relegation-threatened opponent in Reading. Blackburn will need to replicate some of that terrific home form which has seen them win 12 of 20, down the stretch if they want to solidify their playoff position. The Rovers have a mediocre away record of 5-6-7 and a lot of their recent scoring struggles have come away from Ewood Park. Fortunately for the visitors, their opponents hold one of the league’s worst home records. Reading have only managed five wins from 18 matches at the Madejski Stadium while conceding a league high 36 goals in front of their fans.
