Scotland v Portugal Betting Tips [15 October 2024]

Portugal are a win away from securing a quarter-final berth in the UEFA Nations League. They will be traveling to Scotland for their fourth match of Group A1. Follow on for our preview and prediction of the match. 

Hosts Scotland are among the teams yet to pocket a single point in League A thus far. They are in serious danger of relegation back to League B. Another second half concession was the source of their heartbreak as they fell 2-1 to Croatia on Saturday. 

Late drama was also part of it as VAR denied Scotland what would have been the equalizer in that game in Zagreb. They have to do it all over again, after leading but losing their last two matches.  

As Scotland stare at the relegation trapdoor, Portugal are on the brink of qualifying for the quarter-finals. The former Nations League winners are coming from their third straight win after beating Poland 3-1 away from home. 

Cristiano Ronaldo was on target for the third straight game and will be a major threat for the Scots. As they seek a win that would secure the quarter-final slot, Portugal will also be keen on tightening up defensively. 

In their last three matches, the former European champions didn’t manage a clean sheet. Portugal lost only once in regular time in their last nine matches. They have played 21 matches in the Nations League, and in the process, lost only three times, while winning 14. 

While Portugal come into this game as the favorites, there is an area they are really struggling – defence. The former European champions have no clean sheet in the last three matches, though they won all of those.

Meanwhile, Scotland have also proven to be good in attack even as results in League A haven't gone their way. In their three defeats they managed to score and have a good run at home in this competition too.

As two good attacking sides meet, our prediction for Scotland v Portugal is for both teams to score.
