Serbia will be targeting their first points at Euro 2024 when they take on Slovenia in Group C Match Day 2. The two nations had contrasting starts to the competition and Serbia find themselves at the bottom of the group, a place behind Slovenia. On Match Day 1, Slovenia rose from a goal down to hold a much-fancied Denmark to a 1-1 draw. Erik Janža’s goal in the game ensured Slovenia registered a seventh unbeaten outing. They have four wins in those seven matches and Slovenia’s only loss in 13 matches was inflicted by Denmark. Perhaps Slovenia’s biggest concern going into this game will be the fact that they have just two clean sheets in eight matches. In terms of attack, Matjaz Kek will be very confident his charges can deliver. Slovenia haven't failed to score in their last 13 matches and in seven of them, they scored two or more goals.
Serbia had a losing start to their Euro 2024 campaign, suffering a slim 1-0 loss at the hands of England. That loss already puts them under pressure as far as advancing to the next stage is concerned. They will however take some positives in finishing the game strongly and having put England on edge. On a worrying note, however, that loss was Serbia’s fourth in seven matches and 11th time in 13 matches that they conceded. With some of the top forwards in world football though, Serbia have been able to leave a mark in attack in most of their games. They come here having failed to score in just three of their last 18 matches. The last time they faced Slovenia was two years ago in the Nations League. Back then Serbia let a 2-0 lead slip for the clash to end 2-2 and they’ll hope to avoid such here.
Serbia have some of the top forwards at the Euros in their fold, and they’ve done well in attack ahead of this game. However, they aren’t as good defensively and this has cost them a few times. Slovenia seems to be in the same situation as Serbia defensively and in attack. The two nations have drawn three of their last five meetings and they don’t have lengthy winning runs coming here. Basing on this, our prediction for Slovenia v Serbia is for a draw and both teams to score
