Southampton v Liverpool Betting Tips [18 December 2024]

Southampton and Liverpool, two sides on extreme ends in the Premier League standings, will clash in the League Cup this Wednesday. The Saints host the Reds, seeking some stability. Here we have the match preview and a prediction.

Southampton, as it is fast becoming a norm, they were thrashed 5-0 in their last game, at home to Tottenham Hotspur. That marked their third straight defeat and also a third in five where they conceded three or more goals.

While the Saints want to rise from a slump of five loses in six matches, targeting that against Liverpool may fail to work.

Liverpool are in good health. The Reds are competing on four different fronts and look like favorites to advance to the semis. The visitors have only lost once this season and carry into the game a run of 19 matches without defeat.

This will be the third Premier League opposition they face after eliminating Brighton and West Ham United. 

Liverpool have stuttered a bit in recent times but this should end in a routine win. They showed their resilience in the last match and we expect their scoring form to lift them too.
