Southampton v Manchester United Betting Tips [14 September 2024]

Two struggling sides, Southampton and Manchester United will have a chance to put some stability to their campaigns this weekend. The Saints host the Red Devils on Match Day 4 of the Premier League on Saturday. We have the prediction for this lunch time kickoff. 

After their promotion, Southampton are yet to record a point, suffering three straight defeats. Boss Russell Martin will be eyeing a break as his charges return to action following a fortnight of international football. This isn’t a game that has recently served great memories for Southampton.

Manchester United are also coming off an unimpressive run and will be hoping for a lift here. After their labored win over Fulham on Match Day 1, they haven't added more points to their bag. 

The international break was timely, United needing space to deliberate on their performances against Brighton and Liverpool. Their most recent outing ended in a 3-0 loss at home to Liverpool. Erik Ten Hag cut a confident figure that things would improve with time. 

To put that in practice, United have to do better on the road, as currently they are on four losses in seven away league matches. They have one win and one clean sheet in the seven away matches, recording just five points from a possible 21.

Southampton have a poor record in this fixture, with memories of their 9-0 thrashing three years ago still lingering. However, with United struggling at the moment, the Saints will see an opportunity. 

As they work on their own defensive woes, they will be looking to exploit Manchester United’s.
