Both of these countries lost their opening game in AFCON Group F. Tunisia are bottom of the group and take on Mauritania looking to get their first points on the board. The Tunisians lost 1-0 to Mali, the winner coming from the penalty spot in the 48th minute. They now take on Mauritania and then Gambia, both ranked outside the top 100 in the world. Tunisia are ranked 30th and only three other countries in this tournament are ranked higher. They are still in the World Cup after winning their qualifying group and that included beating Mauritania 3-0 at home and a goalless away draw. It was a struggle at times though with only one of their last three qualifiers being won. The Arab Cup saw them lose in the final to Algeria but they had earlier beaten Mauritania 5-1 in the group stages of the tournament held in late November/early December.
Mauritania only earned two points in that World Cup qualifying group, though one was against Tunisia. They then finished bottom of their Arab Cup group with a weakened line-up. Mauritania only bet Syria in that tournament with a 95th minute goal..Didier Gomes da Rosa took over as coach last November but his new team lost their opening game in this group. They went a goal down to Gambia after just 10 minutes and failed to get level. Mauritania are ranked 103rd in the world and this is only their second appearance in the AFCON finals. Only one of their last 12 internationals has been won and Tunisia can be backed to get the win here.
