A London Derby is on the cards on Sunday when West Ham battle Crystal Palace at the London Stadium. A topsy-turvy league campaign sees the Hammers sit ninth on 20 points, five above Palace who are 13th. West Ham are riding high after advancing from their Europa League group courtesy of a 1-0 win over Backa Topola. The victory extended their winning run in all competitions to four games. Switching back to league action, they’ll want to build on their late 2-1 win over Burnley last time out. They however have no clean sheet in their last five league matches. Both teams have scored in four of their last five league matches, with West Ham failing to score in one. A run of three straight home wins places them well as the favorites here. However, they come into this game with just one clean sheet in five home games.
Palace aren’t doing well, having won only one of their last six games. Their 2-1 loss last time out made them the first club to lose away to Luton Town in the Premier League. Roy Hodgson’s men however have a good record against West Ham having won their last two encounters. Palace have not enjoyed playing in the capital, winning just two of their last 16 London derbies. The last time they faced a London rival, they fell 2-1 at home to Tottenham Hotspur. Their loss to Luton was the fourth defeat in five league matches but they only failed to score once. Both sides scored in three of Palace’s last four league matches.
Each of West Ham United and Crystal Palace kept a clean sheet in their respective five games. With both teams also doing well in attack in recent games, we expect an end to end affair here. Our prediction for West Ham United v Crystal Palace is for both teams to score.
