Seventh placed West Ham United can get their Premier League season back on track this weekend. After two successive defeats, they host bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United. The Hammers made a good start to the new season but have lost their last two league games. No disgrace though as the defeats were inflicted on them by Manchester City and Liverpool. Before those losses, they had earned ten points from their first four league games. They are going well in cup competitions too with a Europa League win and are in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup. Home form has seen just one loss this season and that was to Manchester City, despite taking a first half lead. They'd won their last three home league games before that defeat.
Sheffield United were totally expected to struggle on their return to the Premier League. That's exactly what has transpired with only one point from their first six league games. They are already three points from safety and a long hard (and most likely unsuccessful) battle against relegation is their future. Last weekend was a total disaster for the Blades with a stunning 8-0 home loss to Newcastle United. The only good thing about that game is that they stopped any Newcastle player scoring more than once. They have already conceded 17 goals in the Premier League this season with only five scored. On the road, United have lost at Nottingham Forest and Tottenham conceding late winners in both defeats. Another defeat looms for them here and we tip West Ham to win.
