Matchday 30 of the Premier League sees a Leeds team looking to bolster their cushion over the relegation zone when they travel to the West Midlands to take on a Wolverhampton side chasing European football. Wolves have been having a solid season, sitting seventh in the league table with 46 points. After back to back wins to recover from a three match losing skid, Wolves hopes of European football are back on track as we approach the final stretch of the season. They trail fifth place Manchester United by four points in the standings and are coming off a 1-0 away win against Everton. At the other end of the table sit Leeds - in 16th place with 26 points. Avoiding relegation is the main goal for new manager Jesse Marsch, whose side should be invigorated after recording their first win under the American - a 2-1 victory over lowly Norwich. The Peacocks currently hold a four point lead over 18th place Watford and the relegation zone.
The visiting Leeds will have their work cut out for them against a stingy Wolves defense. The hosts have been impressive on that side of the pitch, holding the fourth best defensive record with only 23 goals conceded and keeping 11 clean sheets in the league. Only eight of Wolves 29 Premier League matches have seen over 2.5 goals, not only that but only 14 matches have gone over 1.5 goals. This paints a good picture of what kind of side Wolves have been under the Portuguese Bruno Lage this season - very much focused on maintaining a solid defensive shape and preserving the clean sheet, even if it means sacrificing some attacking inventiveness. Leeds have had the opposite approach this season, albeit playing the majority of the season under the legendary, attack-minded Marcelo Bielsa. Jesse Marsch does look to implement some of the same principles, however, as his Salzburg team in particular was renowned for their high-intensity, pressing style.
